Petrol in Diesel
The most common misfuel on UK forecourts, and the one that does real damage if the engine is started. Petrol acts as a solvent and strips the lubrication that a diesel injection pump depends on. Leave the key alone and call us. We drain the tank, flush the lines and put clean diesel back in before we leave.
Diesel in Petrol
Less common, because the diesel nozzle is too wide for most petrol filler necks, but it still happens with older cars, vans and jerry cans. A petrol engine running on diesel will smoke heavily, misfire or refuse to start at all. We remove the contaminated mix and flush the system clean.
AdBlue in the Fuel Tank
AdBlue has its own filler for a reason. Once it mixes with diesel it crystallises and can destroy injectors and fuel lines within minutes of the engine turning over. This one is not a wait and see job. We remove every trace and dispose of the contaminated fuel safely.
Just Misfuelled? Do This Now
1.Do not start the engine. If it is already running, pull over somewhere safe and switch off. Fuel that has not circulated means a faster, cheaper fix.
2.Leave the key out of the ignition. On most modern vehicles, simply switching to accessory mode primes the fuel pump and pulls contaminated fuel through the system.
3.Tell the forecourt staff. They deal with this regularly. They can help you push the vehicle to a safe bay and will usually let you wait there.
4.Call Wrong Fuel Drain. We will talk you through what happens next and have a technician with you in around 30 to 45 minutes.

Common Questions
What does a wrong fuel drain cost?
We give you a fixed price on the phone once we know the vehicle and where you are. It is consistently cheaper than recovery to a garage followed by a fuel system strip down. The price quoted is the price you pay.
I have already started the engine. Is it too late?
No. Switch off as soon as it is safe and call us. A full drain and system flush clears circulated fuel in the large majority of cases with no lasting damage. The sooner the engine stops, the better the outcome.
How long does the whole thing take?
We aim to reach you within 30 to 45 minutes and most drains take 30 to 40 minutes on site. Most drivers are back on the road within two hours of the first call.
Will a fuel drain damage my car or affect my warranty?
No. A professional drain and flush is non-invasive, with nothing dismantled and no parts replaced. It does not affect a manufacturer warranty. Running the engine on the wrong fuel is what causes damage, not the drain.
Can you come to my house or does it have to be the forecourt?
Either. We work at the roadside, on private driveways, in car parks and on forecourts. If you have already driven home before realising, that is fine, just do not start it again.
